The Teacher Behind Rooted in Music
Rooted in Music offers piano, voice, and early childhood music programs for students at every stage - from newborns and toddlers (with their families) through to adults picking up an instrument for the first time. Whatever brings you here, the goal is the same: music that sticks.
Hi, I'm Meagan and music has been my life's work since 2012.
I started my career teaching Piano and Voice at Saks Music in Calgary, then launched my own private studio in 2013. That same year I joined Gymboree Play and Music, teaching early childhood music classes to children 6 months to 5 years old and their families and I fell in love with the magic that happens when parents and little ones make music together.
Since then I've earned a Bachelor of Elementary Education and two Master’s degrees, taught as a Music Specialist in Calgary and Lethbridge elementary schools and completed the Music for Young Children (MYC) training along with Orff and Kodály levels. I also have advanced Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) levels in Piano, Voice, and as a RCM Certified Teacher and I'm always adding to that list through ongoing professional development.
What all of that experience has taught me? When parents get involved, kids stick with music longer and understand why it matters. That belief is rooted into everything we do at Rooted in Music.
Whether you're looking for lessons for yourself or a music class to share with your little one, I'd love to find the right fit for you.
I'm so excited to bring these programs to Cochrane and can't wait to make music with your family.
